    The Iowa IAI Board is accepting letters of interest for the following positions for the year of 2027: 

    President (1)

    Vice President (1)

    Sgt. At Arms (1)

    Board Member (4)

    Regional Representative (1)

    Educational & Training Committee (5-7)

    Publication Committee (1)

    Membership Committee (4)

    To qualify for a board or committee member position, you must be an active Iowa IAI member in good standing for the year of 2026.

    All letters of interest must be received by October 26th, 2026, and can be emailed to iowaiaiorg@gmail.com with the Subject Line: "Nomination Interest" with the board  and/or committee position you'd like to be nominated for.

    See below to review the responsibilities for each role.

    President:

    • 1 year term
    • Voting Member
    • Presides at all association meetings
    • Supervises affairs of the association to keep it efficient and useful to members
    • Approves (with the Secretary/Treasurer) cost and reimbursement requests
    • Coordinates the bi-annual audit of accounts with the Secretary/Treasurer
    • Appoints standing and special committees and fills all vacancies by appointment to serve out the term of vacating member
    • Serves as chairperson of the Membership Committee
    • Assists with the coordination of the Iowa IAI Crime Scene Schools
    • Receives an allowance for hotel expenses at the conference site, crime scene school or quarterly training day site unless supplied by employer.

    Vice President:

    • 1 year term
    • Voting Member
    • Serves as chairperson for the Education and Training Committee
    • Coordinates the annual Iowa IAI Educational Conference and Business Meeting
    • Coordinates the Iowa IAI Crime Scene Schools
    • Serves as President of the Iowa IAI in the event the current President cannot fulfill their role until the next Iowa IAI Business Meeting date
    • Receives an allowance for hotel expenses at the conference site, crime scene school or quarterly training day site unless supplied by employer.

    Sergeant At Arms:

    • 1 year term
    • Voting Member
    • Prevents unauthorized entry to the Iowa IAI Business meeting
    • Determines voting eligibility of attendees at the Iowa IAI Business Meeting in the event questions arise
    • Maintains the charter of the association granted by the parent body and maintains the flag or colors of the association
    • Leads the Pledge of Allegiance at Conference Opening Ceremonies
    • Arranges and leads any special ceremonies during Iowa IAI sponsored events (awards, honor guards, tributes, etc.)
    • Monitors nomination remarks at the Iowa IAI Business Meeting for time during elections

    Board Member:

    • 1 year term
    • Voting Member
    • Attend all quarterly and special Iowa IAI Board meetings
    • Make nomination recommendations for future positions during board meetings
    • Serve on either the Membership Committee, the Education & Training Committee or the Publication Committee
    • Assist as needed at the annual Iowa IAI Crime Scene School
    • Assist as needed at Iowa IAI Quarterly Training Days
    • Assist as needed at the annual Iowa IAI Educational Conference

    Regional Representative:

    • 1 year term
    • Non-Voting Member
    • Attend all quarterly and special Iowa IAI Board meetings
    • Represent the interests of all Iowa IAI members
    • Ensure the Iowa IAI Board of Directors is being responsible with association funds
    • Attend the IAI parent body conference (at the expense of the Iowa IAI)
    • Attend the IAI  Business Meeting and provide updates at the following Iowa IAI Business Meeting to members
    • Attend the IAI Secretaries Meeting if the Secretary/Treasurer is unavailable. 

    Publication Committee:

    • 1 year term
    • Voting status on committee affairs only
    • Creates flyers, advertisements, and other documentation for all Iowa IAI events
    • Gathers articles, photographs and advertisements for the Iowa IAI Newsletter
    • Assists Webmaster in taking photographs during Iowa IAI events and creating social media posts on Iowa IAI accounts
    • Assist the Webmaster as needed with the maintenance of the Iowa IAI website

    Membership Committee:

    • 1 year term
    • Voting status on committee affairs only
    • Represents the geographical diversity of membership throughout the state of Iowa
    • Recruits and secures new members and reports activities to the Board of Directors
    • Creates surveys prior to all Iowa IAI events
    • Gathers survey responses post-event and reports them to the Board of Directors

    Education & Training Committee:

    • 1 year term
    • Voting status on committee affairs only
    • Selects the location and dates for the upcoming conference and business meeting
    • Organizes the annual conference program
    • Organizes location, dates, instructors, schedule and supplies for the annual Iowa IAI Crime Scene School
    • Organizes locations, dates, topics, instructors, and supplies for the quarterly Iowa IAI Training Days
    • Committee members will be allowed reimbursement for reasonable expenses for site research and conference planning
